Hello from The Thru Project!
Today we are celebrating the second anniversary of our 2013 thru hike! We started our hike on March 5th, 2013.
I'm excited to share a new image to honor the occasion. Entitled “Goose Eye Mountain”, this photo was taken on August 26th while climbing over Goose Eye Mountain in Maine. This portion of the journey took place just after crossing over in to Maine, the last state for us north-bounders. This area of the trail was gorgeous, lush, and un-forgiving at times. Wooden ladders, re-bar steps, and rock traverses of all shapes and sizes became a serious reality during this section of the hike.
2015 has a lot in store for the project; we have plans to complete The Thru Project book and have it ready for all the fun festivals and markets that are just around the corner! Among these events are Trail Days in Damascus, Virginia and the French Broad Co Op Wednesday Market in Asheville, North Carolina.
Thank you all for following the project!
